Indie Friday - May 28th, 2010

Today we look at a Free SHMUP, a Retro-Zombie shooter and an officially-licensed Sports game. It's our most varied Indie Friday yet!

Self Destruct

Brought to you by Distractionware, the same gentleman who made VVVVVV, which we had previously mentioned before, Self Destruct is a rather simple SHMUP. You have to survive through 250 procedurally generated waves of foes in order to be victorious. You have upgradable weapons and are able to restore your defensive shield as you fight your way to the end. The game has a neat 16-bit style and is super addictive. You can download an online-only High Score enabled version or the offline version here.

Zombie Estate

The first thing you notice about Zombie Estate is it's Retro-3D look. Similar, but not quite like "3D Dot Game Heroes. You and up to 3 friends choose from one of 30 8-bit characters and must defend yourself against waves of undead foes. You can purchase new weapons and ammo between waves and there are multiple enemies that you must defend the house against. You can purchase the game for 80 Microsoft Points ($1).

NLL Lacrosse 2010

The 2010 Season was a Big Year for the National Lacrosse League. It's televised once again, now it gets it's own officially-licensed Indie video game. The 2nd Lacrosse title released by Triple B Games. The game itself isn't a visual marvel, but it plays well and features all the up-to-date rosters for all NLL. The game features online play, music from independent musicians, commentator voices and other goodies that make it go beyond it's price point. NLL Lacrosse 2010 has the caliber of a commercial sports title, all for 400 Microsoft Points ($5).

Remember, you can purchase the Xbox Live Indie titles from your computer too! So check out NLL Lacrosse 2010 and Zombie Estate at the links provided!
