Revenge of the Titans is a quirky combination of Tower Defense and Real-time strategy elements. You defend your base-structure from hordes of oncoming Titans, while doing some light resource management and constructing various structures.
From what we've seen so far, the game is frantic, fun and challenging. It's simple to get the hang of, but the game's difficulty gradually gets more and more insane. You'll have to keep a steady eye on your resources and the location of your turrets if you're to survive. Another important element of RotT is it's upgrade system. Any leftover resources can be used to purchase new technologies, weapons and other nifty upgrades. Being smart with the upgrade system is integral to your success in the game.
Things get crazy on the moon!
As we previously touched on in our interview, Revenge of the Titans has a gorgeous pseudo-retro look to the game, something that's unique with all Puppygames titles. The titular titans are adorably goofy looking, as are the various characters you encounter, like the egg-headed scientists and your super-British Commander. The visuals are awesome. But that's not the only thing RotT has going for it. The audio, which is equally as awesome contains the various beeps and boops you'd expect from a Sci-fi-themed title, but it's backed by an impressive soundtrack.
All in all, Revenge of the Titans is shaping up to be the best Independent title of 2010. I'd love to say more about it, but you'll have to wait until it drops later this year. For now, download that Beta, and don't forget to pre-order! It's 50% off in the meantime!
