Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing DLC Out Today

The wait for the first DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 is finally over! The Passing comes out today!

It brings the survivors of the first game together with the survivors of the second game for twice the survivor action but you still only play as Left 4 Dead 2's cast. It adds in another campaign of unknown size though it will probably be around the same size or bigger then Left 4 Dead 1's DLC Crash Course. It adds in a new gun and melee weapon with them respectively being the M60 and the golf club. It also adds in at least one new scavenge map called The Port. But wait there's more! Valve has also put in a new Midnight Riders song just for kicks. Lastly a new type of uncommon infected called the Fallen Survivor.

Whats most impressive thing is that they added in a feature called mutations. These are week long changes for certain game types. The first one up is Realism Versus which takes the elements of Left 4 Dead 2's realism mode and puts it into the Versus game mode. It adds something new to the game every single week. Only one mutation will be running per week and they will be available exclusively for people who own The Passing. The most interesting aspect is that there will be a monthly poll where players can vote on what mutation they want to return.

You can pick up The Passing today for 560 Microsoft Points ($7) and if you play the PC version the DLC is available at no cost.
