"The Grinder" To Be An FPS On Wii

To some people, High Voltage Software might mean nothing. But to the few hardcore Wii gamers, this name means a lot. HVS is responsible for the Wii FPS "The Conduit".

At E3 a few years back, HVS announced that they would be creating another FPS for the Wii, called "The Grinder".

The game is to be set in an alternate reality where witch's, vampires, and zombies exist. It revolves around four hired hunters, Hector, Doc, Miko, and AJ, who track and kill the aforementioned creatures.

Zombie hords are quite pretty on the Wii

All of this is fine and dandy, but at this years Game Developers Conference, HVS announced that the previously Wii-exclusive title would become multiplatform and be on the PS3, XBOX 360, and Windows PC. That alone is enough to upset a hardcore Wii fan, but it didn't end there. HVS also announced that the game would be a top-down action game. After playing "The Conduit", and hearing all of the good stuff about "The Grinder", this upset me, and pretty much turned me off this title. A top-down action game on the Wii doesn't seem very fun to me.

Something like this on Wii does not look like it would be cool

But there's a light at the end of this tunnel. Eric Nofsinger of HVS was quoted saying "The expansion of Grinder to 360 and PS3 and its subsequent change in gameplay and perspective has been somewhat misinterpreted as a universal change across all platforms." And, "We still genuinely love the Wii and would ideally like to see a publishing partner pick up both a FPS Wii version and a third-person action version specific to the 360 and PS3."

Nofsinger also said that the production of the Wii version of the game is still in development.

More information will surface within the next few months, check back here for info as it becomes available.
