Sir Ian McKellen says The Hobbit begins fillming this July

Time to re-superglue the hair to your feet all you Frodos and John Does. According to a new post on his website, Sir Ian McKellen has stated shooting of The Hobbit (prequel for The Lord of the Rings ) begins this July back in New Zealand.
J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, for the unaware, told the tale of Bilbo Baggins on his journey with the wizard Gandalf and 13 dwarves (funny, I always thought it was seven). Their quest is to reach a mountain full of gold and defeat its greedy protector, the dragon Smaug. This of course leads Bilbo and other memorable characters into the adventurous series that is The Lord of the Rings.
Guillermo del Toro has been chosen as the movie's director and is currently living in Wellington, New Zealand which was an area close by the most predominant filming of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Del Toro had previously stated in an interview with BBC radio that Hugo Weaving and Andy Serkis will return alongside McKellen in their roles of Lord Elrond and Gollum respectively. No other casting information has been disclosed.
