He's suiting up for the red, white and blue! Ain't It Cool News has recently posted a number of photos that they claim to be the current design stages for the costume Chris Evans will wear for the upcoming Marvel Comics film Captain America: The First Avenger.
Not very long ago, JoBlo.com had released a description they had heard from a source that had apparently seen what the outfit would look like. They described how the outfit had been adapted from its original comic book form.
"The 'hood' is gone entirely," the source was quoted. "In its place is a more traditional M1 Army helmet though this helmet does come over the eyes to give Cap a traditional "domino mask" look. On his chest still lies the white star though it's not as prominent as the comic version."
Throughout the history of Marvel Comics, when Steve Rogers entered his alter ego as Captain America, he wore an outfit of this form. But according to the source, the costume has been updated to blend in with both the superhero film genre and the World War II time period.
"The fabric of the costume doesn't look like the scaled material of SPIDER-MAN but more of a leather fabric, like something you'd see on one of the X-MEN," the source was quoted. "As you might expect, there's no codpiece to be found and Cap is wearing blue pants tucked into brown utility boots. The pants aren't skin tight but they aren't baggy either. And for those who are curious, the pants actually have a fly so Cap can take a leak if he needs to."
It remains unknown whether the costume is in the actual stages of production, or if it's still in progress through concept art.
In other news, Haley Atwell and Dominic Cooper have joined the film as Roger's British love interest, Peggy Carter and Iron Man's father Howard Stark respectively. Cooper has made little comment of his involvement other than his confirmation, but Atwell has spoken briefly of her preparation for the role.
"I'm so excited," she said in an interview with LSQ TV. "I'm training at the moment for six days a week to make her a little more military and make it convincing that I can kick butt. I met up with Sebastian Stan (Bucky) and Chris Evans...we went to see Iron Man 2 together to get a sense of what Marvel is about."

Atwell also confirmed that Tommy Lee Jones had joined the franchise, who she said she may have at least one scene with. Captain America: The First Avenger is set to hit theaters July 22, 2011.
