Nintendo Press Conference - The Review

Note: It wasn't really 2 hours. I was lied to!

- The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. That's all I have to say.

- Mario Sports Mix looks like a really interesting combination of goodies, I want it. I like idea of Mario Hockey and dodgeball.

- Wii Party? Reggie is making it sound like something revolutionary. I'll pass buddy, it was better with Mario.

- Golden Sun DS now has a subtitle: Dark Dawn. The graphics look a lot tighter than it did last year, I'm excited.

- A new GoldenEye Wii-Exclusive. It looks pretty oldschool, even with Daniel Craig. It's out this Holiday, so be excited.

- Warren Spector and Adam Creighton are here to tell us about Disney Epic Mickey. The new visual makeover, especially during the cutscenes are really cool. I like the idea that the world is a mishmash of classic (Sort of) Disney environments. The core mechanic that allows you to remove and re-paint the game world, this system also links to a moral system, which is an interesting concept, something I expect from the creator of Deus Ex. Spector seems genuinely excited to work on this game. Understandably so. I'm sold, I wish they told us when it's coming out.

- A New Kirby? I think so! It's a platformer which requires you to interact with the world using yarn. Oh, the world is made up of yarn and paper? I think that's pretty much fantastic.  It's called Kirby's Epic Yarn,  and it's going on the Wii this fall. I'm buying it too.

- Reggie is trying to sell me on Dragon Quest IX. Sorry Reggie, I already want it! It's coming out on July 11th. Aw yeah.

- Metroid: Other M has a sweet new trailer. It looks awesome, but I'm still confused how you might be able to perform all the awesome moves with a single controller. It's officially out August 31st now. So be excited Metroid Fans.

- Retro Studios is making a new Donkey Kong Country. Sadly, I want this way more than I want the new Zelda. It's currently titled, Donkey Kong Country Returns.

- I think they're going to show us the 3DS...  Yes, they are. I agree Reggie, nobody likes 3D Glasses. This year really is the year of 3D. It looks exactly like a regular DSLite, which is nice. The top screen is massive in comparison. You can adjust the 3D too, that's neat. There's also a fucking joystick. Yes! And improved graphics! Yes! It has 3D Camera taking too. Project Sora wasn't about Smash Bros! It was about the 3D! Conspiracy! HOLY SHIT! KID ICARUS UPRISING ON THE 3DS! HOLY TITS! It sleep mode, the 3DS actively connects and updates your games, that's cool. There's a Nintendogs with cats in it. I want it.
There's a whole assload of third-party support for the 3DS, lots of beloved franchises are going to be seen in Portable 3D. Fuck yeah. Also, Shigeru Miyamoto in a pink suit. That's badass.

OVERALL

Since I've started watching the E3 Press Conferences, Nintendo has always had shameful, gloat-heavy conferences that go nowhere. This year, we actually got games that people wanted, especially lots of first-party goodness and some really neat new things, especially the 3DS. This was Nintendo's best conference ever and the best of E3 so far. I'm impressed Nintendo, I'm Impressed.
