Here at Gammabit, we like the simple things. Video games, carbonated beverages, fast food and rocking tunes. When any two of those are combined, we love it. Which is why several of us are infatuated with Chiptunes. Using the magic of prehistoric 8-bit audio chips, musicians are capable of creating magical retro-inspired soundscapes.
Today we're going to talk about Anamanaguchi, a New York-based band that combines chiptunes with real instruments to create hyper-positive punk awesomeness. The band uses a hacked Game Boy and a hacked NES mixed with the sounds of guitar and drums. It's feel good music, as evidenced by this song.
For all you folks who played Bit.Trip Runner, you may recognize it as the song played on the Main Menu. In the meantime, you can download the bands first release for free, but the 2nd release will cost you some dough. But you can find for sale in many places! Joy.
Stay tuned for tomorrow. We'll talk about many other bands that play wonderful chiptune goodness.
