Indie Friday - April 30th, 2010

As the month of April comes to a close, I bring your more delicious Indie titles for you to get your hands dirty on.

VVVVVV

VVVVVV is retro-styled platforming masochism. It's fun and brutally simple, but the difficulty ramps up to rage-inducing levels. You play as Viridian, a blue 8-bit thing with a perma-smile. You explore a variety of puzzling rooms to find your lost crewmates. To navigate the 8-bit world, you must distort gravity by pressing the V-Key.The game is available on PC/MAC computers from the official Distractionware site for $15. You can find better games for $10 less, but it's still fun regardless.

Ikachan

The precursor to Cave Story, Ikachan is another adventure game by Pixel. This time you play as a squid named Ikachan, who is trapped in an underwater cavern system. You collect food to level up and fight a variety of foes and bosses in order to escape. Also like Cave Story, the game happens to be completely free.

Until next week, that's your Indie Friday.
